Based on the feedback The Patients’ Association of Canada has received from its’ members, we are starting a peer to peer User Guide. This User Guide will include instructions and tips and also the experiences of people who come into contact with the various parts of the system. We are seeding the User Guide with information found in Navigating Canada’s Health Care by Michael Decter and Francesca Grosso (Copyright © Michael Decter and Associates Inc. and The Grosso Group Inc., 2006. Reprinted by permission of the authors and Penguin Group Canada.) Gradually this user guide will become an open-access collaboration, where everybody will be able to contribute new material and edit existing information. A panel of specialized volunteers will review contributions on an ongoing basis, to monitor accuracy and maintain standards.

An Account of Frustration with the System Late last year, at the age of 51, I got sick for the first time ever. My family doctor couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me, so she told me to go to the ER. I resisted this for several weeks...
