John Feld

My name is John Feld and I believe that we urgently need to move forward with patient-centric care. I have a cross disability, multiple f**king sclerosis and a stroke. I was first diagnosed with MS way back when, in the 1980s. I had my stroke in the 21st century, actually 2007 in March. I describe myself as an orthodox atheist Jew. I have always been active in social political movements and see the PAC as an extension of that.

In 2005, I founded the Abilities Arts Festival: A Celebration of Disability Arts and Culture, a ten day multidisciplinary arts festival featuring works from artists with disabilities from across Canada and other parts of the world. In 2007, I wrote Oops! — a satirical drama about disability. The play was performed at the Summerworks Theatre Festival in Toronto and I am now working on turning this script into a television sitcom.

With my new experiences with the health care system, I am motivated to try to make a difference for patients. We need to be given the right information to make decisions about our own health and health care options. We need to be given that information in the way that will allow us, as lay people, to make informed decisions. I hope the PAC can help accomplish that.

J'ai d'abord été un diagnostic de SP dans les années 1980. J'ai eu mon accident vasculaire cérébral dans le 21e siècle, en fait 2007 à Mars. Je me décris comme un Juif athée orthodoxe. J'ai toujours été actif dans les mouvements sociaux et politiques et je me voir la PAC comme une extension de cette.

Nous avons besoin d'être étant donné que l'information de la façon qui nous permettra, en tant que laïcs, à prendre des décisions éclairées; j'espère que PAC peut accomplir cette tâche.
