Promoting the role of patients and the patient voice in all areas of health care.
Aileen O'Dowd
As a health communicator and researcher in Toronto, I come to the Patients’ Association of Canada (PAC) with the hope that we will be able to improve our primary health care system, encouraging a more patient-centred approach.
My brother passed away from clear cell sarcoma, a rare cancer, last year. My family went through this year-long battle with him, heavily involved with a number of Toronto-based hospitals and rehabilitation centres. We also participated in American-based clinical trials. Through this experience I have come to recognize at a personal level, the need for an organization like PAC.
